To register for camp, you need three things:
- A completed SPAP enrollment form: Click Here.
- A YMCA enrollment form: Click Here.
- Payment of $35 registration fee and 1 week of camp, $150.
The YMCA charges $120 a week for camp. SPAP charges an additional $30 to operate our sensory-friendly, ASD-friendly camp.
SPAP was founded by two St. Pete parents with a child on the Spectrum. There are far too few services for families affected by Autism in Pinellas County, and SPAP aims to change that. Camps are but one of our many initiatives. We hope you will get involved with our organization, participate in our programs, help us raise money and fulfill our mission to “Transform the World for Families Affected by Autism.” We are planning a sports program and an after school program for the fall.
You can register your child for free (save $35), if you come to Healthy Kids Day at Central Campus on April 29. This is a good opportunity to see where camp will be, ask questions, meet other families, etc. For details on Healthy Kids Day, click the image. Note that you need to come to the event on Central Campus, which is located at 5185 45th Street North; St Petersburg, FL 33714. This is the address for camp.
If your family needs assistance with the YMCA’s tuition, you can apply for a scholarship by completing this form: Click Here.
Now, to help fund “Summer on the Spectrum,” which costs more than the $30 a week fee, we have a number of events coming up, which we hope you will attend and invite friends and family to attend as well.
- Easter Egg Hunt, April 15, 9:30 am to 11:30 am. Free.
- Healthy Kids Day, April 29. Free.

We originally planned to serve 30 kids this summer. We have 43 inquiries. We don’t like saying no, so we are working hard to expand the camp to 40. If I sent you a link to this post via text, you are already on the list, which was first-come, first-served. If you are seeing this post from Facebook or our website, please confirm that I have you on the list. Text your name, cell, email, child’s name, age and gender to 727-483-1305. I will acknowledge your text and tell you what number the child is on the list.
To really make this summer work for everyone, we need families and businesses to support us and participate.
I’ve donated the last year of my life, working full time for no pay to get SPAP rolling. I want to create a world that supports my son on the Spectrum. I appreciate your patience and more than anything, your commitment to your child and mine.
Finally, if you have any questions, concerns, ideas, please contact Matt Wiseman at 727-483-1305. Text is best, but you are welcome to call.
See you at camp,
